COLOMBIA - INFORMATION ABOUT CUSTOMS
HOW
TO IMPORT / EXPORT PRODUCTS (CARS, MOTORCYCLES, ETC.) TO
/ FROM COLOMBIA: Dear visitor: www.CesarUSA.com
contacted the Colombian customs office around 2008 or
2009 and they provided the contact information below
(for latest information please visit it/their websites
directly). (011-57-1) 607-9999 (011-57-1) 381-1910 (011-57-1) 382-1376 (011-57-1) 607-9230 (011-57-1) 607-8686 (011-57-1) 607-99215 (one digit too many, maybe one 9 should be removed). If the person is located in a Colombian city then the person can contact the customs administration office where there would be agents that would be able to help. Regulations (as of 2008 - this file is old) about importing a car to Colombia say that it needs to be of the current year (pretty much not being more than a year old or something such as that) or an antique. A person who selling an antique car around 2008 said that those cars can be exempted from paying annual taxes if the person buys the exception for about 100 thousand pesos at a specific government office (seemingly the city hall or the governor's department), but this was not confirmed by any of the three employees that were asked at the Department of Transit in Medellin, Colombia (they did not know about that). Colombia has auto dealers from several manufacturers such as Renault, Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet, Audi, etc. There are dealers that sell new and used cars, also dealers that buy used cars and resell them. Therefore you can buy new and used cars in Colombia at dealers and of course from individuals. The prices are coming down in Colombia. A TLC with Europe was signed and there will be or there is importing of cars from Europe with diminishing custom fees for a period of 7 years (about 4 or 5 years have already past by by 2014. The more time it passes the less the fees will be). The TLC with the US was also approved, but so far it seems the rules are still the same in regards to only being able to import 1 year old cars or newer and antique cars, but the import fees might be diminishing too. Electric cars are also being imported but still in very few numbers. There are very few electric charging stations for cars, if any, in most areas in Colombia. I suggest contacting a company experienced in auto shipping for the latest information about importing a car to Colombia. If
you need information about the rates/fees Dian charges
you could contact Dian in Bogotá at (011-57-1) 607-9332

SPANISH VERSION (Versión en español): INFORMACION DE A QUIEN CONTACTAR EN CASO DE PREGUNTAS SOBRE COMO IMPORTAR / EXPORTAR PRODUCTOS (CARROS, MOTOS, ETC.)
OpenView Para ayuda visite: http://www.dian.gov.co/Content/ayuda/ayuda.htm |
